Amrita Puri

While Sonam Kapoor and Ira Dubey get to wear trendy designer clothes and look like divas, Amrita Puri had to wear ill-fitted salwar kameezes and a long plat to look like a behenji.

The model who is popular on commercial circuit makes her feature film debut with Aisha.

Amrita has been modelling and doing theatre. She has also written articles for magazines and worked as a copywriter for an agency.

Amrita Puri plays a small-town girl from Haryana, Shefali in the film who just wants to settle down with a well-to-do boy from Delhi. So Sonam and Ira’s characters give her a cool makeover and set her up with Cyrus Sahukar. To prepare for her role, she had to wera bushy eybrows and a thick and heavy plat. She also watched movies like Jab We Met, Namak Halal and Cruel Intentions along with reading Emma. She had to attend workshops too and think in Hindi, like her character would.

Puri is from Mumbai so there was no link between her character in the film and herself. She got the role because a friend messaged her on Facebook about the auditions. She was chosen from 350 girls. Amrita bonded with Sonam on the sets in Delhi because they shot scenes everyday and met before shooting began. Abhay Deol is her favourite person from the sets and she admires him as an actor. She hit it off with Lisa Haydon too.

Aisha releases on August 6, 2010.
